The home of Ligue 1 football team Lille is the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, which is also referred to as Decathlon Arena – Stade Pierre-Mauroy due to sponsorship reasons. It is a multipurpose venue with a retractable roof and was opened in 2012 with a maximum seated capacity of 50,186.
The multi-functional design allows the stadium to be easily converted from its normal state as a football stadium into a concert venue for large events or a small indoor sports venue. The retractable roof takes around 30 minutes to open and close.
Along with Lille home matches, it has hosted four group matches, a round of 16 matches, and the Wales vs Belgium quarter-final during Euro 2016.
Located 6km from the city centre of Lille and the main train station, it is still relatively easy to get to. The best way to use public transport is by taking the metro, which is within a short walk from the stadium.
