Located in Lens, Stade Bollaert-Delelis was opened in 1933 and currently has a capacity of 38,223, which is interestingly around 7,000 more than the population of Lens. It serves as the home stadium for Ligue 1 team Lens. It takes its name from Felix Bollaert, a Compagnie des Mines de Lens director who was enthusiastic about the city developing sports clubs and Andre Delelis, a former mayor of the city.
Its structure follows the English style of the stadium with four separate stands, each dedicated to someone important to the club or the town – Henri Trannin, Tony Marek, Elle Delacourt, and Max Lepagnot. Aside from Lens games, it has also hosted various international tournament games such as the 1984 and 2016 European Championship, the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the 1999 and 2007 Rugby World Cup.
