Celta’s home ground is Estadio Municipal de Balaidos, known officially as Abanca-Balaidos due to a sponsorship deal. Based in Vigo, it is an all-seater venue with a capacity of 18,267. Plans are in place to upgrade the grounds, which will boost its meagre capacity to a more respectable 32,000.
In addition to the exciting home games, the stadium has also played host to three group matches during the FIFA World Cup in 1982 and a handful of Spain national team games, including a notable friendly with Brazil in which they drew. Outside of sport, various concerts have been held there too, including Festival Afroamerica in July 1992 for two days that welcomed artists like Dr John, Tracy Chapman, Tito Puente, and B.B. King, among others. Most recently, British rock band Muse performed there with The Killer Barbies and Years & Years in support of 17,000 happy fans.
