Champions League

An annual continental football event, the Champions League, has been held most years since 1955, featuring all the biggest and best football teams throughout Europe. The Champions League is considered one of the most prestigious football tournaments in the world and is the biggest and most important of its kind in Europe.

There are stages, beginning with three knockout qualifying rounds and a single play-off round. The 10 teams that survive that stage join the 22 seeded teams for the group stage. In this stage, there are eight groups with four teams in each. The final knockout stage features the 8 group winners and runners-up and concludes with the final match.

The winner of the Champions League qualifies for the Club World Cup and Super Cup.
