Espanyol
Football Club

Real Club Deportivo Espanyol de Barcelona, known as Espanyol for short, is based in Barcelona and was formed in 1900. Although their pedigree is not nearly as impressive as their hometown rivals in Barça, they have won the Copa del Rey four times, with the most recent win coming in 2006. They have also reached the UEFA Cup final twice, in 1988 and 2007. Despite these successes, they have been recently relegated to the Segunda Division after coming 19th in the 2022-2023 season, finishing with 37 points.

Their home ground is the newly built RCDE Stadium, also known as Estadi Cornella-El Prat. One of the most interesting things about Espanyol is that it was one of the founding members of La Liga in 1928.

A very popular team, Espanyol have had several big-name players in their ranks over the years. These include Raul Tamudo, Jose Maria, Mauricio Pochettino, Maranon and Arteaga. Another fascinating thing is that apart from a small number of individuals from other countries, most of their coaches have been Spanish over the years.
