San Mames Stadium is the 7th largest stadium in Spanish football and the largest of all the stadiums in Basque Country, with a capacity of 53,331. It was inaugurated in 2013 and replaced the original San Mames. The modern stadium also won Sports Building of the Year at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore in 2015.
Aside from football matches for Athletic Bilbao, the stadium has also played host to the 2018 finals of the European Rugby Champions Cup and Challenge Cup and was the venue of choice for an MTV World Stage event featuring headliners Crystal Fighters, Muse and Berri Txarrak.
