Stadio Renato Dall’Ara is a multi-use stadium located in Bologna that serves as the home ground for Bologna FC. The name was a tribute to the former Bologna president, Renato Dall’Ara, that served the city for 30 years.
Aside from Bologna home games, it also hosted matches in the FIFA World Cup in 1934 and 1990. With a total capacity of 36,000 for matches, it is ranked as the 11th biggest venue in the country and can be expanded to 55,000 for music events. Games played at the stadium during the World Cup in 1934 included the Sweden and Argentina match, in which Sweden won 3-2 and the Austria and Hungary game, in which Austria won 2-1. During the 1990 Word Cup, it was the venue for the group matches between the United Arab Emirates and Columbia, Yugoslavia and Columbia, Yugoslavia and the United Arab Emirates and then the match between England and Belgium.
