The team was founded in 1927 following a merger and apart from one season, 1951-52, it has competed in Serie A for all of its existence. Another amazing statistic is that 16 players have played for Roma while playing for their national team and winning the FIFA World Cup. These players include Paulo Dybala in 2022, Francesco Totti, Simone Perrotta, Daniele De Rossi in 2006, and Thomas Berthold and Rudi Völler In 1990. The team shares the Stadio Olimpico with their Rome-based Serie A rivals Lazio. The venue is only second in terms of largest to the two Milan teams’ home of San Siro, with a capacity of 72,000.
