Founded in 1903, Hellas Verona is based in the city of Verona and currently participates in Serie A. Although they have played in the top flight several times over their career, the team has only won Serie A once in the 84-85 season. The team has had more success in the lower leagues, like Serie B, when they won it in the 56-57, 81-82, and 98-99 seasons. They have also been runners-up in the Coppa Italia on three occasions – the 1975-76, 1982-83, and 1983-84 seasons.
While they have never won any European championships, they have participated in several seasons, including the European Cup, where they reached the second round in the 1985-86 season when Juventus put them out and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup once before being put out by Werder Bremen in 1987-88. Previously, they had only reached the second round before being put out by Sturm Graz.
