Werder Bremen
Football Club

Founded in 1899, Werder Bremen is one of the oldest clubs to compete in the Bundesliga. Based at Weserstadion since 1909, with a capacity of 42,100, the team does not share the same prominence as titans like Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. However, they share the same record of having as many seasons played in the top German football league alongside Bayern Munich.

Throughout their chequered history, they have secured four Bundesliga victories, six DFB-Pokal wins, three DFL-Supercup wins, one European Cup Winners’ Cup and one DFL-Ligapokal title.

One glaring sore point was when they were relegated to the second division of the Bundesliga, known as 2. Bundesliga. This was the first time it happened since 79-80. However, in a show of their gutsy determination and ability to deliver the goods, the team were promoted back to the top flight after just one season.
