While it’s true that most European club football is dominated more or less by the cosmopolitan cities’ clubs and those big super-clubs, SC Freiburg stands out from that crowd. It was formed in 1904 when it was originally two different clubs, FC Schwalbe Freiburg and Freiburger Fussballverein 04. Eventually, the teams united in 1911 and formed SC or Sport-Club Freiburg. While the team may not enjoy quite the same stature as clubs like Borussia Dortmund it makes up for it with its team spirit and always fighting hard for those wins.
The 24,000-capacity seater venue Schwartzwald-Stadion is where SC Freiburg calls home, and it provides one of the most intimate football spectating experiences and is definitely worth watching.
