Stadio Artemio Franchi is the home ground stadium for the Serie A football team Fiorentina located in Florence. It originally opened in 1931 with the inaugural match between Admira Wien and Fiorentina, with Fiorentina winning 1-0.
With a current capacity of 43,147, it has played host to several international games for the Italian team, including the 1933 match between the home side and Czechoslovakia, in which Italy won 2-0 and notably in 2006 when they played Germany and won 4-1.
In 1934 at the World Cup, the venue was used for three games, the first-round match between Germany and Belgium, which ended with a scoreline of 5-2 and the quarter-final match between Italy and Spain that had to be replayed, with Italy eventually winning 1-0.
The venue was again used for the World Cup in 1990 and played host to four games, United States vs Czechoslovakia, Austria Vs Czechoslovakia, Austria vs United States in the group stage, and the quarter-final between Argentina and Yugoslavia that Argentina one on penalties, 3-2.
