Mestalla Stadium, located in Valencia, is the home ground of the La Liga team of the same name. It has a maximum capacity of 48,600, which makes it the 8th biggest stadium in the country. Interestingly, the name of the stadium is taken from Mestalla, which was a historic irrigation canal originally located outside the stadium’s south stand and which had to be jumped across to get into the grounds. Another notable feature of the modern stadium is the north stand and its steep section.

The ground was inaugurated in 1923 with a match between Valencia and Levante. Aside from the amazing feats of technical and skilful football displayed by the home side against the best of La Liga, the venue has also been used for several notable international and cup final games.

It has even played host to four El Clasico finals of the Copa del Rey between La Liga behemoths Real Madrid and Barcelona in 1936, 1990, 2011 and 2014. That is in addition to 6 other times when the Cop del Rey final has been held there.
