Nottingham Forest’s home ground is the rather plainly named City Ground. Don’t let the name fool you, or the 30,445 seated capacity. It is located in quite a picturesque setting along the banks of the city’s River Trent. One of the most interesting facts about this attractive, modern football stadium is that it is only 270m away from Meadow Lane, home to the local rivals Notts County. That makes them the closest teas in England, with Dundee and Dundee United taking the top spot for closest clubs in the UK.
It's no surprise that the two teams do not get on, although they are not in the same league. Many have expressed their praise for the atmosphere at Nottingham Forest’s grounds, primarily due to the fanbase’s passion for the sport and their favourite team. What’s in a name? The name City Ground was chosen to celebrate the fact that Nottingham had been awarded city status in 1889.
