Stadio Friuli is the all-seated 25,144 capacity stadium used by Serie A team Udinese for their home games. It is currently referred to as Dacia Arena due to sponsorship reasons because Dacia, the Romanian car manufacturer, sponsors it. Situated in Rizzi, around 4km from the Udine city centre, the stadium was given to Udinese Calcio with a 99-year lease. Most recently, reconstruction took place to remove the athletics track that ran around the edge of the pitch and three sides of the stadium were demolished, with the West end or arc being preserved.
Renovation work on the stadium cost around 50m euros, and it was completed without Udinese having to play any home games at other stadiums. In addition to Udinese home games, the venue has also played host to 3 matches in the 1990 World Cup from Group E, and it was approved for UEFA Champions League matches during 2005 and 2006, in which the team participated. During the 2010 qualifying stage, the stadium was used to host the second match against Georgia.
Bands like Deep Purple, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink Floyd, and the singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen have all played concerts at the venue throughout its long history.
