Southampton
Football Club

Southampton Football Club, nicknamed the Saints, have been playing in the Premier League since 2013 as they were promoted during the 2011-12 season, where they finished as runners-up. They currently play in the EFL Championship after being relegated in 2022-2023 season, coming last with only 25 points.

Their nickname is “The Saints'' because it was founded at a church in Southampton called St Mary's church, and it has stuck ever since. Their home ground is also named after the church.

The club has produced some fantastic stars over the years, with a lot of the success coming from its youth system. Some of the biggest names to come from it were Theo Walcott, Luke Shaw, Gareth Bale and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The best players in the current squad to keep your eye on are free-kick expert James Ward Prowse and Mohamed Salisu Abdul Karim, who have been great this year and are being linked to big clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester United following Southampton’s relegation from the Premier League.
