Originally founded in 1911, the Clermont-Ferrand-based Clermont’s current team is a result of a merger in 1990. One of the best-known facts about Clermont, who call the 12,678-capacity Stade Gabriel Montpied their home, is that between 2014 and 2017, they became the first men’s professional football team in the world managed by a woman, Corinne Diacre.

The team was only recently promoted to Ligue 1 for the first time at the end of the 20-21 season, but the future looks rosy but thanks to their players and manager, the team will likely continue to be an imposing threat to any team they face.
