A multipurpose stadium in Clermont-Ferrand, Stade Gabriel-Montpied is the home ground for Clermont Foot. It was built in 1995 and has a maximum capacity of 11,980. Aside from Ligue 1 matches, the stadium was also used as the location for the first France Women’s Sevens of the 2016 World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series, and the Clermont-Ferrand Sevens in 2017, the 3rd leg of the Rugby Europe Grand Prix series of the same year.
It is located within the Champratel district of the city and takes its name from Gabriel Montpied, a former resident and mayor of the city from 1944 to 1973. It has the main pitch and four other pitches, a weights room, changing rooms, a dojo, and a sauna and is made from reinforced concrete; the bleachers are covered by a metallic structure that has been designed to resemble an eyelid.
