Vonovia Ruhrstadion

Vonovia Ruhrstadion, or Ruhrstadion for short, is the home of VfL Bochum, a team based in Bochum. It has a humble but respectable capacity of 27,599, which is perfect for the brand of football that Bochum plays and its loyal fanbase interactions. In 1992 the stadium hosted the UEFA Champions League match between Glasgow’s Rangers and CSKA Moscow because the teams couldn’t play in Moscow due to bad weather.

Outside of football, David Bowie performed a concert as part of his 83 Serious Moonlight Tour at the stadium.

Interestingly, the original capacity of Vonovia Ruhrstadion was well more than 50,000 but was reduced over the years due to the various modifications and alterations made to the venue.
