Camp Nou, or Spotify Camp Nou as it is known for sponsorship reasons, is an intensely imposing venue. To start with, it has a jaw-dropping capacity of 99,354, and given Barcelona’s dominance of La Liga football; it takes nerves of steel and dogged determination for even the finest teams to take on one of the best teams in the world in their home environment.
Camp Nou has played host to an astonishing list of events, since its construction was completed in 1957. Events include two European Cup/Champions League finals in 1989 and 1999, four Copa del Rey finals, two European Cup Winners’ Cup finals, and twenty-one Supercopa de Espana finals. The stadium also played host to five matches during the 1982 FIFA World Cup, including the first game and the final of the 1992 Summer Olympics football tournament. Outside football and sport, Irish rock group U2 have played there three times, the Three Tenors performed a concert there, and even Michael Jackson took to the stage at Camp Nou during his Bas World Tour.
