Montpellier is a Ligue 1 team based in Montpellier, a city in Occitanie. Although it was initially founded in 1919, its current iteration was founded following a merger in 1974. Its home matches are played from the 32,900-capacity Stade de la Mosson.

The team has a history of serving as the team for many players that have gone on to have huge successes, such as Laurent Blanc, the team’s leading goalscorer, and who served as manager for the national squad. Other huge names in French football that have worn the Montpellier colours include Olivier Giroud, Carlos Valderrama, Roger Milla, and the one-of-a-kind Eric Cantona.

The team is known to play with a lot of width and long balls, favouring attacks down the left, they are very aggressive and can be very successful.
